USDINR OPENED AT 72.06/07

The rupee again open with gap down with firm 26 pips @ 72.06/07 against yesterday closed at 72.32/33 level. It is clearly visiable that USDINR getting support from internationally Oil price correction but India’s government and its central bank are getting close to ironing out some of their policy differences, said two sources familiar with the discussions, as they seek to defuse worsening tensions that had threatened to unnerve investors.

The uneasy truce is likely to see the RBI ease up on some lending restrictions to help the government stimulate the economy, said the sources. One source said the RBI could agree to tweak restrictions on lending to improve credit flows for smaller companies with a borrowing limit of 250 million rupees ($3.4 million).


Neither the RBI nor the finance ministry responded to requests for comment for this article. The prime minister’s office declined to comment.

MAJOR FOREX MARKET
  1. The dollar continued to give up gains against its rivals Wednesday following subdued inflation data and a rise in sterling after UK Prime Minister Theresa May secured support from her Cabinet for a draft Brexit deal.

  2. GBPUSD rose 0.18% to $1.3005 after May said that her Cabinet had backed her Brexit plan, adding it was in the national interest but that there would be difficult days ahead.

  3. EURUSD rose 0.18% to $1.1310 after Italy re-submitted its draft budget for 2019 to the European Commission, but left its growth and deficit forecasts unchanged, raising the risk of backlash from lawmakers in Brussels.

  4. USDJPY traded rose 0.36% to Y113.42 as lingering concerns about slowing Chinese economic growth weighed on risk sentiment, supporting demand for the safe-haven yen.

  5. USDCAD meanwhile, rose 0.04% to C$1.3245 as gains in the pair were limited after oil prices firmed, boosting the oil-price-sensitive loonie.

  6. Asian stocks rose on Thursday, taking heart from a bounce in Chinese shares on news that China has delivered a written response to U.S. trade demands, while oil prices resumed their retreat on fears of oversupply.

  7. U.S. government sources told Reuters on Wednesday that China had sent a response to U.S. demands for trade reform but gave no further details, raising hopes the two sides could resume negotiations to end their trade war.
